Description:

Zizeeria karsandra (Moore, 1865), called Dark Grass Blue, is a small butterfly found in the Southern Mediterranean, in a broad band to India, Sri Lanka, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Burma, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, New Guinea and northern and eastern Australia. It belongs to the Lycaenids or Blues family, and the tribe Polyommatini. With Philippines distribution in Jolo, Luzon including Metro Manila, Mindanao, Palawan. Recorded hostplants: Tribulus terrestris (Bullshead burr/Caltrop) and T.cistoides (Zygophyllaceae), Zornia diphylla (Papilionaceae) and Amaranthus spinosa, A. tricolor and A. viridis (Kolitis)(Amaranthaceae).

Habitat:

Backyard, spotted on Fringed Spider flower (Cleome rutidosperma).
