Striped Tiger Moth

Padenia duplicana

Description:

This Tiger Moth or Wolly Bear Moth is very small, only 11mm from forehead to wingtips. White with dark brown bands on its back. Mistaken easily as Padenia obliquifascia but can be distinguished by the more curved outer bands.

Habitat:

Rainforest of Maliau Basin, Sabah. Found this on the wooden railing of the MBSC dining hall.

Notes:

I have seen this type of moth several times. Their size makes them a rare spotting. >>>Map accuracy : 5km diameter.
