Anas carolinensis
Smallest North American dabbling duck
Males have grey flanks and back and a white-edged green speculum. Head has chestnut color with a green eye patch. A vertical white stripe on side of breast is the marker that separates this bird from a Common Teal. Females resembles more like a female Mallard.
Prefers marshes for the plants and shallow water.
spotted this in a marsh along side Wigeon and shoreline birds.
