Crested Tern (juvenile)

Thalasseus bergii


This lone Tern has a yellow bill and black legs. The body appears to be juvenile plumage i.e. mottled black and white.


Check out this little video: of this lovely bird preening along the edge of the water. It was hanging out with a bunch of Silver Gulls (Chroicocephalus novaehollandiae) on the sand (pic 2).


Not too sure why there was only one of these around but I figured if it's comfortable enough preening amongst the gulls then it must be alright. This link is how I identified it: Atlas of Living Australia:
