Palmaria molis

Description:

A blade from the red seaweed Palmaria molis 20 cm (8 in.) tall and 10 cm (4 in.) wide with a soft slightly rubbery feel. The blades do not have veins or ribs, edges are smooth.

Habitat:

Found washed ashore at the Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge. Occur here in the low intertidal and subtidal.

Notes:

Individuals are attached to rocks with a discoid holdfast.
