Mourning Dove

Zenaida macroura

Description:

Light-grey, brownish in colour. Smaller and slimmer than a rock pigeon, but belong to the same family. There is no significant difference between the males and the females.

Habitat:

One of the most abundant birds in North America. This one was spotted near the Humber River in Toronto.

Notes:

It has a familiar, 'wooOOoooo' call that is easily recognizable. Strong fliers.
