Chrysomya megacephala
Blowfly on a Tridax Daisy (Tridax procumbens). Chrysomya megacephala (Fabricius, 1794), called the Oriental Latrine Fly, is a warm-weather fly with a greenish-blue metallic box-like body which belongs to the family Calliphoridae (blowflies). This fly can be a nuisance to humans and even cause accidental myiasis. Key features: Glossy, robust fly, 7-10mm body length. Head with large red eyes; Male eyes meet topside, and have top 60% with distinctly larger facets; Female eyes widely separated topside and entirely with small facets. Thorax and abdomen glossy dark blue to dark green. Wings transparent.
