Chaetocercus mulsant
Tiny hummingbird at around 8cm (3.25") long. Male has metallic green back, sides and head with dark green wings and tail and white belly and large thigh spot as well as a white collar and white line going up behind the eye. The throat is a stunning metallic purple when the light catches it. The female is a tad smaller and duller with white on the throat and rufous tail and thighs.
Found on the east slope of the Andes in humid forest from 800m up to 3100m. Prefers forest edge.
These images taken at Abra Patricia in norther Peru. I have included an image of the female on a feeder for reference - note the rufous tail with black band.
