Killdeer

Charadrius vociferus

Description:

A medium-sized plover with two black rings around the neck and long legs.

Habitat:

The bird(s) pictured were found in a field down the street from my house, right next to a highway. I found one nesting in a Lowe's parking lot once. I have also seen them in very wild areas near bodies of water.

Notes:

There were 3 in the field at the time that these photos were taken. I checked earlier today, and there were two, probably mates. Hopefully they will breed and nest in this field.
