Upside-down Moth

Urapteroides astheniata

Description:

This moth had a wingspan of about 6 cm and it was about 3-4 cm in length. It was white colored with several brownish colored stripes on its wings. On its head, there were two "horn" shaped appendages sticking out and there were 6 spots. The edges of the wings at the top are rimmed with black or brown and at the bottom, have a zebra striped pattern.

Habitat:

This moth was living in Singapore Botanic Gardens. It was partially shady out there, because it was late afternoon and the moth was resting on the backside of a leaf. I spotted it at 6:29 PM.

Notes:

When it was resting on the leaf, its wings were opened. And when it landed on the leaf, it stayed there for quite a long time without moving.
