Common mapwing

Cyrestis maenalis

Description:

A medium sized butterfly of the cyrestinae family. Pale, almost white on both sides of wing, with thin, longitudinal stripes. Interesting tail flaps like many hairstreaks have. Easily disturbed and difficult to approach.

Habitat:

Adjacent to a small stream. Altitude 1000m.

Notes:

Researching, I was convinced that this was Cyrestis nivea, but a couple of sources state that nivea’s range is 0-500m whereas I am at 1000m elevation. They are both almost identical butterflies and I could not tell them apart from the Wiki images. Personally, I think it is nivea. http://www.fobi.web.id/fbi/v/lepido/sf-c... The closest I could approach was five feet, hence the low quality images.
