White-Fronted Falconet

Microhierax latifrons

Endemic to Borneo. We alway w this very small bird in the distance perched at the top of the canopy. It is the smallest existing bird of prey, at only 15 cm in size. The male has white forehead and the female orange. They feed on insects, birds and lizards. It is not a very frequent species. Yet we were lucky to spot some in both Sukau and Tabin.

Riversides Kinabatangan, area of Sukau, Sabah.
