Eastern Great Egret

Ardea alba modesta

Description:

All white heron, about 1m tall, with orange-yellow bill and dark grey legs.

Habitat:

Seen close to habitation, roaming in ponds. Seen in extreme south of Teknaf Peninsula; in lowlands, less densely populated than the rest of peninsula, with rather poor and salty soils. The are has some ponds, a bit of forests and big salt production (cottage industry) fields.
