Small. White. Oval. It has to be the egg of the Eurasian collared dove (Streptopelia decaocto) or the spotted dove (Spilopelia chinensis) or perhaps that of feral pigeons (Columba livia domestica), which are called City doves. Pigeons are notoriously callous parents and lay their eggs just about anywhere but I only get a pair that comes to feed. I have PLENTY of spotted doves and quite a few collared ones. Any idea who was silly enough to lay an egg on the parapet? All ideas are welcome. (My sister thinks some predator bird ferried it over...but no damage to the egg.)
I had gone up to the terrace to put out fruit/bread for the birds when I saw this egg on the parapet. It would have rolled over, hit the ground and smashed. No attempt had been made by the parent bird(s)to make a nest; not even one, solitary twig. Clean egg. Not soiled or anything. Not even faint blood stains. It wasn't warm to touch. I placed it on top of the blue AC cover you see.
An Asian Koel had it for breakfast. Sorry I could not shoot the actual moment but I saw it.
