California Newt

Taricha torosa

Description:

The orange underside of this salamander serves as a warning sign to predators. These amphibians are very poisonous, so don't eat them! Gopher snakes are somewhat immune to their poison, and will prey on these newts until a stronger poison evolves out of selection.
