Description:

Group of Thamnophis sirtalis mating I would suppose. They all seem rather irritated that I bothered them. "Brown to green with creamy stripe along the back and sides; red-sided and plains garter snakes are similar.

Habitat:

Turf grass, wood pile

Notes:

Bare live young. Iowa's most abundant snake.
