Green Paddy Frog

Hylarana erythraea

Description:

Medium-size, smooth frog, around three inches. Bright green above, hence the name, brown and white stripes on the sides and mostly white underneath. Distinct tympanum beside their eyes that act out kinda like ears.

Habitat:

I found this frog near a rice paddy field, which is literally what its name says. Spotted at night. Widespread throughout southeast Asia, they were introduced in some parts of the Philippines. They dwell on moist, freshwater habitats, can be artificial or natural, mostly on paddy fields.

Notes:

Local names: paka, manwit
