Bird's Nest Fungus

Nidulariaceae

Description:

Small fungi on rotting wood/ wood chips/ and wood debris. Open area contained 100's of these little mushrooms. Some open, some closed.

Habitat:

Moist open area near lake and woods in local park, Nevada, Missouri.

Notes:

I've seen pictures of these in books but had NO IDEA how small they were. You almost need to walk on hands and knees to find them.
