Description:

Also known as Small Pond Dragonfly, Banded Flutterer, Golden Wing Dragonfly. Approximately 30mm in length, double wing set coloured golden amber with dark brown markings. Body blue/grey. Males and females look similar. The unusual fluttering wing movement, hovering, gliding slowly and quick changes give these dragonflies a distinctive appearance.

Habitat:

Found in a variety of regions and habitats in Australia. This one in dry woodland environment near man made dam with surrounding long grasses in north east NSW.

Thanks venusflytrap2000. The rainbow of colours reflecting from the wings was even more obvious with the naked eye.
