Description:

Males are deep orange to yellowish-orange with a black cap, nape, and eye streak. Wings are black with white patches. Bill not as thick as a grossbeak's bill.

Habitat:

Spotted next to the Yakima River.

Notes:

Native to western North America. The eastern Cascade foothills are the western extent of the range.
