Yellow spotted salamander

Pseudohynobius flavomaculatus

Description:

This amphibian is a black salamander with yellow spots. The creature is very moist to the touch and will dry out easily if it is not contained in a wet area.

Habitat:

The salamander is known to be found on damp, moist areas. It also might be found in the sand or under a rotted log.

Notes:

I found the salamander after a rain shower had stopped. It was huddled up in the moist grass trying not to be seen. Is a very fast runner(shown in a picture) It is on the endangered list.
