A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Calidris mauri
A heavily streaked sandpiper that can be distinguished from other sandpipers by its rufous patches on its cheek and wings during its breeding season.
Spotted at The Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge. This long narrow spit extends out over 5 miles. They are coastal migrators that prefer mudflats and sandy beaches.
