Red-tailed hawk

Buteo jamaicensis

Description:

These photos were taken with a point-and-shoot camera through a birding spotting scope. The colors vary a bit because the digiscoping was through two different scopes. It did give a nice close-up of a bird that was too far for my zoom lens to capture well. They almost look like paintings rather than photos.

Habitat:

Tree in urban neighborhood

Thanks, Christy! Joshua, I was with a birding group and two other birders had scopes. I didn't look to see what kind of scopes they were, only looked through them from time to time!

What scope do you use?

Love this, Maria! Being that far away leaves him undisturbed...and he fell asleep on you!! ;-)
