Globe mallow bee

Diadasia diminuta

Description:

Diadasia diminuta has blonde hairs and greenish eyes. Black and white striped abdomen seen in pics 2 and 3. They specialize on pollen from globe mallows. The long hairs means this is probably a female.

Habitat:

Spotted collecting pollen on Streambank Globe Mallow (Iliamna rivularis) in a meadow next to the Umtanum Creek. Eastern Cascade foothills.
