Earthball

Scleroderma

Description:

I found this mushroom in my moss garden, which is under a pair of oak trees. The cap was dry and was pretty tough to break open, and I was surprised to find it was dark purple inside. I'm completely new to the world of mushrooms, but I'm thinking it might be a scleroderma? It's about 1" in diameter, or 25mm.
