Long-toed salamander

Ambystoma macrodactylum

Description:

Dark brownish gray salamander (3.5 in) with an irregular/broken yellow dorsal stripe. Small white flecks on sides, legs, and feet. Pic 3 cropped to show long fourth toe on hind feet.

Habitat:

Spotted under a log in eastern Washington. Cascade foothills with pine and fir forest.

Great series Brian. Salamanders are probably the organism here that I see the least of. Scare, hard to see? Perhaps I'm just blind. Thanks for sharing this.
