Black-winged Stilt

Himantopus himantopus

Description:

My first Black-winged Stilt for Kuwait. They are common visitors, rarer in summer, but some of them breed here. I probably have better photos from my time in Egypt, but I’m too lazy to search. I didn’t flush this guy, but he gave me a little show & flyby without my ‘help’ Not the greatest / clearest shots, but it gives you an idea of how extremely long his legs are (14-17cm). His whole body has a length of about 33-36cm.

Habitat:

Golf course during migration
