Description:

I thought this was a hover fly, but when I started examining it closer, I realized that is might be a bee. Turns out it is a Wool Carder Bee, Anthidium manicatum. The species was accidently introduced from Europe to the US prior to 1963.

Habitat:

Urban veggie garden.

I just updated this spotting. I incorrectly identified it as a hover fly, it is actually a Wool Carder Bee, Anthidium manicatum. The species was accidently introduced from Europe to the US prior to 1963.
