It is useful to help keep the dunes steady.. A lot of people plant it in their yards because it naturally thrives in the area and it takes nothing to grow.

Sorry, we find it very useful to keep our beaches in place and we call it Sea Oats.

Interesting. In Florida we have sea oats (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uniola_pani...) that are on the other end of "a blight".
