Bumble Bee

Bombus

Description:

Spotted this bumble bee on my mammoth sunflower in my back yard in Emeryville, CA. Several honey bees were diving at it trying to get it to leave, but it would not budge. I do not know the specific species, possibly Bombus californicus.

Habitat:

Urban flower garden.
