Tyto capensis
Look who spent the day under the veranda roof of the room where I stayed in Entebbe, Uganda. The African grass owl (Tyto capensis) is a species of owl in the Tytonidae family.

How cute is that! Habitat seems odd for a grass owl though - I thought they were very outdoorsy birds of highland grasslands.
littlechippy. Definitely looks like a masked owl, but do them have them in Uganda? I can only find reference to them in Australia.
thanks Ali, do you think it could be this one? They seem to have only 2 species of barn owls in Uganda.

Perhaps a masked owl? There a couple different species of masked owls, so you may want to look those up.
