Hover Fly Emerging from Pupa

Syrphidae

Description:

I spotted this pupa on a geranium leaf on Oct 2, 2011. It was only about 8mm long and was very shiny. I believe it is a Hover Fly pupa. The first two photos show a head emerging with antennae on Oct 7, 2011. I could not stay to watch it emerge entirely. 

Habitat:

Urban flower garden, geranium leaf.

Notes:

The shape is similar to this Syrphidae pupa image: http://bugguide.net/node/view/321617

I added a new photo and it looks like there is a striped abdomen shape in the pupa. I think it might be a syrphid fly.
