Dormouse

Glis glis

Description:

Small mouse-like rodent, grey above and whitish below, with conspicuously large black eyes. From where I stood, it looked about 20-22cm in length, half of which is a squirrel like bushy tail.

Habitat:

A surprising face-to-face in an abandoned and rather isolated villa in Dubrovnik riviera, on the coastline itself and surrounded by dense Mediterranean woodland.

Notes:

According to Wikipedia in English, this dormouse is better known as "Edible Dormouse" or "Fat Dormouse" - as I hate the food reference in names of animals, I've chosen to avoid it altogether.
