Apalone spinifera emoryi
Two Texas spiny softshell turtles were sharing a tire with a large Red-eared slider. They have an olive-brown carapace with a paler band on the edge that is four or five times wider in the rear than in the front or sides. They also have small white spots on top that are near the rear (pic 4 is cropped to show this).
Spotted at the Estero Llano Grande State Park.

Thank you very much Maria. I was really happy to find this one.
Very nice spotting, Brian38; not a turtle we see often in postings
Thank you Ashley for the nomination.
“Your spotting has been nominated for the Spotting of the Week. The winner will be chosen by the Project Noah Rangers based on a combination of factors including: uniqueness of the shot, status of the organism (for example, rare or endangered), quality of the information provided in the habitat and description sections. There is a subjective element, of course; the spotting with the highest number of Ranger votes is chosen. Congratulations on being nominated”
