A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
With 2.5ha of rainforest & only 3 cabinas opportunities for wildlife sightings at our small lodge are amazing. All photos from our property,
Tortuguero, Costa Rica

I think it is an eyelash viper.
That link for the sound didn't work for me, but this one does: http://www.californiaherps.com/noncal/mi...
Many thanks, I thought it might be. When I have looked for them before my mistake was looking down, should have been looking up!
I'm confused, if I google the latin I get "blushing phantom", if I google pink-tipped satyr I get a different latin name, but they both look the same to me!
Yes - just wondering, do we have parrots here that aren't Amazons in this area? (yes, I'll look it up!)
Truly astonishing!
We've seen it a couple of times since this original spotting. Hopefully it will decide to hang around.
Thank you! I looked up sloth skull but I guess the images that came up were three toed and that threw me off. Whew. Now I can sleep. (we find a surprising number of dead sloths around here).
