Pardalotus striatus substriatus
Tiny Australian bird, white underneath, black cap with white eyebrow, bright yellow patch either side of forehead, bright yellow patch on chest and either side of body, dark and black back, wings, tail with red spot and white band on wings, seed and insect eater. This one waiting in nest in earth bank for mate to return before it too leaves for food collection.
Found in north and east Australian in varied habitats, prefers nesting in earth or earth banks but will use hollows where necessary.

I didn't realise they were a first Ava T-B. Thank you for letting me know. I suppose when you see them all the time you assume many other people do to. I have noticed that the melanocephalus does interbreed with the substriatus, and possibly others of these races, and that has made family groups of mixed pattern and colour variation, it is often difficult to get a completely accurate ID. Seems to be the way with nature when species decline mixing will occur where it is possible.
Congratulations kdpicturemaker, this (and your other similar spotting) is the first Pardalotus striatus substriatus on Project Noah.
Again - thank you. It took quite a while to get a decent shot of this one as they are so wary and very quick. Quite a few were nesting this year in the same place.
