Large grasshopper varying in color from dull olive green to brown to bright yellow. Black herringbone pattern on hind femur ("thigh") is diagnostic.
Found this one on a sidewalk in a residential area.
Locally abundant, especially in rank grasses near water. Generally a slow-moving grasshopper.
