Painted Lady Beetle

Mulsantina picta

Description:

I was excited to find this ladybug, because normally I encounter multicolored Asian lady beetles. This one definitely did not have the distinctive "W," and was more oval than Asian lady beetles.

Habitat:

Roaming around on a picnic table outside of RISD's dining hall.

Thank you for the ID! I was a bit too busy to dig around myself.

This one had me fooled for a moment! Many apologies. You are right! The markings on the protonum are different. Nice find! http://bugguide.net/node/view/15640
