Culladia Crambid Moth

Culladia sp.

Description:

Culladia Moore, 1886, is a Crambid Snout Moth. The adult moth is pale brown with dark orange brown v-shaped markings on forewings. The "snout" is long. Always eyes down, it rests with head down and tail up, rolled wings, and front legs outstretched. Culladia is a grass moth genus (family Crambidae) of subfamily Crambinae, tribe Crambini. Some authors have assigned the synonymous taxon Nirmaladia to the snout moth family (Pyralidae), where all grass moths were once also included, but this seems to be in error.

Habitat:

Backyard garden. Spotted on the weedy part of the backyard.
