White-browed Sparrow-weaver

Plocepasser mahali

Description:

Common resident breeder in Southern Africa, this is a sparrow like and size weaver, mainly brown above, white below with distinctive large white supercilium.

Habitat:

Observed not too far away from a small stream, in a camping site above it, amidst arid acacia tree-and-shrub landscape, or thornveld. This was Kunene region of Namibia (northwest), and the region in question is still very dry (but still magnificent and rich in wildlife) at the moment, after a three or four years of dry spell.
