Sharp-snouted rock lizard

Dalmatolacerta oxycephala

Description:

Formerly known as Lacerta oxycephala, this is a small, slender bodied and flattened lizard with a pointed snout and somewhat bulgy eyes. It measured less than 20 cm, with some 7 to 8 cm in body length. The color of the body is grayish, with brown-red pattern; and the tail is grayish-green, striped black.

Habitat:

The representatives of this species are found in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, and possibly Albania, where its natural habitats are Mediterranean-type shrubby vegetation, rocky areas, rocky shores, rural gardens, and urban areas. This fellow, together with his or her mates, lives in our garden, on dry-rock-walls. During the summer the garden goes very dry, since we use very little irrigation.
