Acacia leaf beetle

Calomela pallida

Description:

A pale green beetle with bright aquamarine apex and forelegs. Coloration is uniquely different on the hind leg which is diagnostic for this species. The handsome thickening antennae are typical for Calomela. It is considered a species complex and allied species are easily confused with this species, even by me.

Habitat:

Found singly in a curled leaf of blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon). Common along eastern Australia north of Sydney but another first for me.
