Rosalia funebris
A longhorn beetle with black and white bands on the elytra. The thorax (pronotum) is white with a large black spot. The alder borer's antennae are banded white and black. The male's antennae are longer than the body.
Spotted on a power pole along Hwy 507 near Roy, Washington.

Thank you very much Neil. I read somewhere that these longhorn beetles are sometimes attracted to paint. I wonder if this one is attracted to creosote? I even placed a limb with leaves in front it to climb on but it didn't want anything to do with it. It just wanted to stay on the pole.
This is a really awesome beetle. Mark's right with "anti-camo"! Cheers for the video too. It was interesting.
Thank you very much ornithoptera80.
nice pics Brian
No doubt Tukup. I didn't think it was real when I first spotted it.
Black and white can sure be "colorful" can't it? Nice catch Brian. Thanks
Thank you Mark and DrNamgyalT.Sherpa for your kind words.
That's beauty, Brian!
Anti-camo! Great spotting Brian.
