Deep Yellow Euchlaena Moth

Description:

Large geometer moth with yellow to reddish wings, prominent light apical patch.

Habitat:

Range is eastern North America. Season is typically May-September (2 broods). This one was photographed at the edge of a deciduous forest in Edgefield County, SC.

Notes:

Little is known about the life cycle of this moth. Larvae of other species in genus feed on foliage of deciduous trees. According to BAMONA, this is a new record for this species in Edgefield County, SC. Hodges#6733
