Dung Fly

Cordilura sp.

Description:

Small fly with elongated body. Yellow head and legs. Reddish-brown eyes and middle of protonum with black bordering, yellow underneath. Dark abdomen. Covered in pollen.

Habitat:

Sears Bellows County Park, New York. Wooded campground.

Notes:

We had a bad wind/rain storm followed by a very windy pollen storm (most likely from the Pitch Pine). They sky was hazy from the pollen for half the day. All of my spottings from May 26-27 are covered in the pollen.
