Male Kingfisher because it lacks the rufous belt across the chest and under the grey belt. Large crest of blue grey, which it raises and lowers. Constantly watching the water for fish, and the surroundings for danger. So interesting to watch as he would fly out over the creek from his branch over the bank, hover above his prey and then make a rapid dive into the water to catch it.
Fishing in Kanaka Creek, a tidal tributary of the Fraser River, high water, getting lots of small fish and taking them away. Probably to young in a burrow in the side of the mud bank of the creek, but we could not see this.

I love them too! It is certainly hard to find their nest tunnels.
