Small skipper

Thymelicus sylvestris

Description:

The male Small Skipper is territorial, and can be found resting on suitable perches from which it intercets any passing butterfly. Its favourite foodplant is Yorkshire Fog and its often found within colonies of large and small skippers.

Habitat:

seen in the wild meadows of Old Moor nature reserve in the Dearne valley, Owned by the RSPB.
