Omnivorous platynota moth

Description:

It is a small tortrix moth that has brown and grey wigs. The wingspan is about 15 mm. This moths caterpillars feed on citrus trees as well as the fruits. The caterpillar pupates with old scrap leaves and silk to fold the leaf together.

Habitat:

Semi-urban, Fort Worth, Texas.

Notes:

This specimen is a female. The distribution of this moth is the United States (where it has been recorded from Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia), south through Mexico and Central America to South America (including Venezuela and Brazil). It is also found in the West Indies and Europe.
