Eastern chipmunk

Description:

Chipmunks are small, striped squirrels. They have reddish-brown fur on the upper body and five dark brown stripes contrasting with light brown stripes along the back, ending in a dark tail. There is lighter fur on the lower part of the body. They prefer bulbs, seeds, fruits, nuts, green plants, mushrooms, insects, worms, and bird eggs and they stuff the pouches of their cheeks with food as they forage. Despite their small size, they share the space with much larger squirrels, birds and deer.
