Dragonfly

Odonata

Description:

Wings are transparent except for small bars of black along the front edges. Turquoise blue body. Eyes appear green.

Habitat:

Small pond.

Notes:

I don't know much about identifying dragonflies. Is this a Great Blue Skimmer? This little guy was very friendly. Spent a great deal of time perched on my foot, posing and letting me photograph him. He even let me lean over and photograph him from the front. When I got up, he flew away and landed again on my sarong.

Eastern Pondhawk - Erythemis simpllicicollis mature male. The males change from green to blue as they mature. Only the eyes and face remain green.
